Stuff 1

I'm going to try being more active here... we'll see how long it lasts this time!

Just posted my entry for Story Works' latest challenge: You're being watched.. My initial idea was that Rodney was a conspiracy theorist living in Colorado Springs and keeping an eye on the base there. He still has his canon education except he wasn't brought into the Stargate program for some reason but is certain there is more going on under Cheyenne Mountain than deep-space radar telemetry. He's at the local bar one Friday night spying on the base's personnel when John approaches him (instant attraction!!!). They talk, mostly about the math Rodney's been scribbling on napkins, which leads John to think he's one of the base's scientists, and of course Rodney doesn't correct him. Rodney uses what he knows about John to look him up and finds out he was stationed in Antarctica when weird things happened there a couple of months ago (the Battle of Antarctica). They meet up several times, Rodney always spinning a tale when John asks him why he's never seen him on base, and slowly but surely Rodney learns the truth. Of course something has to happen that reveals the truth but then they need Rodney's help, he saves the day, joins the SGC, and gets the guy! ^_^ But that would have been really really long and I'm already struggling to write the short stuff, so I abandoned that idea

Received my SGA Secret Santa assignment this morning. I already know what I want to write :D because its an idea I've had for a while but never had the motivation to write. The initial idea was for a long fic but I don't think I'll be able to do that now, but we'll see... Gonna need a beta.

I am currently working on my Trope Bingo card. Of the 25, I have definite stories for about 17 (I really really want to write all 25 fic for 25 different fandoms) The ideas are there, it's just getting them down that's difficult for me.

That's it where writing's concerned.

As for my personal life: the weather's heating up, I'm still unemployed, and ... not sure what to put here, it seemed like it needed an 'and'.

I cannot understand why people write main character death fic. Neither can I understand why I read them. Because I KNOW exactly what they do to me, and now I'm all puffy eyed and snotty and fucking upset because I read a really great yet heartbreaking fic. And now I'm listening to sad music which just makes things worse PLUS I am hormonally, and therefore emotionally, compromised. Fuck.

I have deleted every single entry before this because, let's be honest, no one is ever going to read this and they were pointless - I'm pretty sure whatever I post from this point on will be pointless as well, but whatever. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

I've been giving much thought to deleting my lj and tumblr because they serve no purpose except to compound the fact that I am alone among lots of people - in both RL and fandom.

I am a multi-shipper, although my OTPiest of OTPs is McShep (John Sheppard/Rodney McKay from Stargate Atlantis). I can't watch anything without seeing the slash potential. An example: last Sunday my Dad was watching Armored (it's a film) - I walked in during the end scene where Milo Ventimiglia and Columbus Short were staring at each other through hospital windows and that was it, I had to rewatch it and now I want to write fic! I am pathetic... One day I'd like to sit down and make a list of all the pairings that I read fic of, it will probably be exhaustive.

I first stumbled onto the world of fanfiction when I was going through an insomniac phase. Instead of sleeping, I would read random Wikipedia pages and somehow I ended up reading about fanfic and kinks and all the different terms involved (like slash) and eventually I ended up on fanfiction.net. I don't think I started reading slash but in due time I stumbled onto some, I don't remember the pairing, but the pairing made so much sense! And then that became the only thing I'd read until one day I wrote something, I don't remember the pairing :) that sounds familiar. Most of what I wrote and posted to ff.net was Edward/Jacob from Twilight despite never having read the books or having seen the movie ^_^ my sister has a habit of telling me about the books she read and after she watched each movie we'd discuss it in comparison to the book. I then went through a period of not writing, something I am struggling with right now, and eventually stumbled back into the world of fanfic when I started watching Eureka (the tv series) and started shipping Jack/Nathan. My search for fic led me to tarlanx's AO3 [I've turned into a bit of a fangirl and a whole new world of fanfic - I've been hooked ever since.

The really crappy thing is, like with everything else in my life really, I have no one to talk to about things. When I first told my sister about fanfic and slash she pulled up her nose at it, especially after accidentally reading Darcy/Bingley slash (they're from Pride and Prejudice) I laughed so hard at her outrage. And my cousin also has an aversion to it. They're the people closest to me as I have no friends so I'm sure you can appreciate my frustration. And I just don't feel right ranting about stuff on tumblr or here because what I really want is someone I can discuss with; there is no satisfaction in talking into the void.

I forgot where I was going with this...
